After Joshua Kimmich had his turn commenting on the manner in which Bayern Munich nearly squandered a 4-0 lead against Holstein Kiel this afternoon, Bayern trainer Vincent Kompany addressed the result at his post-match press conference. Kompany sought to emphasise the positives rather than focus on the two late goals conceded in injury time. The FCB head coach maintained a calm demeanor.
“I think it was pretty much a mistake free game from us for 80 minutes,” Kompany said. “I think we played well against a team fighting for every moment. The attitude of the team [Bayern] didn’t really change no matter what time in the game it was.
“They fought really hard for their moments and had a few in the first half,” Kompany continued. “In terms of how we finished the game in the last ten minutes, that’s of course something that we’ll have to review with the team and the players.
“We know that we can’t concede momentum,” he concluded. “You can concede a great goal. That happens in football. But you can’t concede momentum like that. But nothing takes away from the fact that we played a great game for 80 minutes and took the three points.“
