As things stand, the highest priority of FC Barcelona in this summer transfer window is to sign a new left winger to enhance their attack ahead of the 2025-26 season.
For this purpose, the Catalans were linked very closely with the Athletic Club forward Nico Williams, but have lost out on him as he renewed his contract with his current club till 2035.
As a result, the Blaugranes are now focused on signing other targets for this position, and their top priority in this regard is now the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
However, signing him will not really be easy, as several factors make it difficult for Barcelona to get their hands on the Colombian. For instance, Liverpool are not too willing to part ways with such an important player for a reduced price, and the Blaugrana club is already facing financial problems.

To make things even more complicated, the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also interested in the player and are trying their best to land the Colombian.
In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany recently contacted the winger directly through a video call, in which he explained the German club’s sporting project and the role Diaz would play in it. For his part, the player also expressed his willingness to play for the Bavarian side.
This action can help Munich get the better of Barcelona in its race for the winger, even though the Blaugranes themselves also understand that they have the player’s nod.

However, the Liverpool star is also willing to continue at Liverpool if they increase his wages, and this is mainly because, at this stage in his career, Diaz is mainly concerned about getting a paycheck in accordance with his current standing in the world of football, irrespective of his destination.
But as is the case with Barcelona, the one problem that Bayern Munich are also facing at this point in this operation is Liverpool, who, instead of agreeing to a decreased asking price, have in fact increased their asking price to €100 million.
Thus, it remains to be seen how this story will develop in the coming days and where Luis Diaz will be playing for the next season.
