Vincent Kompany and Max Eberl address Mathys Tel's future at Bayern 🗣️ | OneFootball

Vincent Kompany has said Mathys Tel is "still a Bayern Munich player" and could yet be selected for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Holsten Kiel.

There has been intense speculation surrounding the French forward's future, with his request to leave being followed by links with several English clubs, most notably Manchester United and Tottenham.

However, Kompany refused to give much away, saying: "the most important thing is that Mathys is still a Bayern player. Every player is fully available until the last moment. My role is as always: to use the players who are available."

Sporting Director Max Eberl echoed those sentiments, adding: "Mathys is still a Bayern player. Accordingly, if he's there tomorrow, he will hopefully be looking to score goals. That remains the case at the moment. There's no new situation"

"Mathys is a very gifted player, his move to Bayern was very good. Whether it's a loan or a sale, we'll see. It needs to be right for all parties."

Kompany also addressed the upcoming Champions League draw, in which Bayern are one of the 16 sides set for a knockout round play-off clash, and can draw either Manchester City or Celtic.

"I don't have a preference. We have two games. It's important to build up energy for these games. Of course we wanted to be in the top 8. But Real, City, Juve, Milan & other big clubs are not in the top 8. Regardless of the opponent, we want to build energy."

Amid questions about Tel's future, the Champions League and tomorrow's game, Bayern also unveiled goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, who has joined from Köln.

The 21-year-old said: "I'm delighted to be here. The first week of training was very good, very intense, a high level. I'm excited about everything to come"

Urbig is unlikely to feature tomorrow as Bayern look to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table in their first-ever league meeting with Kiel.
