Matilda Vinberg has lifted the HSBC Player of the Match award – as voted by our supporters on the Spurs Official app – after Wednesday night’s 2-0 Women’s League Cup win at Crystal Palace.
Securing our place in the quarter-final of the competition, the Sweden international was at the heart of a memorable evening at VBS Community Stadium.
Making her third consecutive start in the Women’s League Cup, the 23-year-old broke the deadlock in Sutton with her first goal of the season and just her second in our colours.
Lenna Gunning-Williams found Martha Thomas inside the box and she unselfishly squared to Matilda to roll home from close range before Araya Dennis doubled our advantage on 71 minutes with a lovely finish on the turn.
She completed the whole match, where she went close to a second in the latter stages, as we booked our spot in the last eight of the competition.
