Sky Sports didn’t broadcast Chelsea’s defeat to Newcastle this afternoon, but they’ve been looking at the tables and how things stand in the thrilling race for the top 5.
Defeat at St James’ Park means we’re stuck on 63 points, level with Aston Villa and just 2 ahead of Nottingham Forest, who are playing their game in hand now.
It’s still in our hands – just about – but it’s a wobble we could have done without, and one that could have been avoided.

Neither Micah Richards nor Jamie Carragher on punditry duties had much positive to say about Chelsea’s chances as the chasing pack close in on Enzo Maresca’s stumbling Blues.
“With Man City drawing… It could still go any way,” Richards said.
When asked if he could see Aston Villa winning both their final two games (against Spurs at home and Manchester United away), Carragher responded in the affirmative.
“Yeah I do… in some ways you couldn’t ask for better fixtures” the former Liverpool defender said, referring to the fact that those two teams have nothing to play for in the league will be competing in the Europa League final days after their games.
“I still look at Chelsea and think they’ve got a problem. I mean Man U at home [is one thing], but going away to Forest is a problem.”
On the evidence of today’s performance, it’s hard to disagree. We’re tuning in to watch Forest take on Leicester right now to see what we’ll be up against on that likely crucial final day in a fortnight’s time.
