Chelsea lead in the Club World Cup final in New York!
Cole Palmer has just rolled the ball in from the edge of the box, making up for an earlier strike of his which flew just wide.
There was lots of criticism of Enzo Maresca and his continued use of Malo Gusto as a right back, but it was a goal which was born from the Frenchman’s attacking instincts. Robert Sanchez picked him out with a great long ball that caught out PSG’s attacking full back Nuno Mendes.
The Parisians never really recovered their shape – Gusto had his shot blocked, but the ball returned to him and this time he picked out Palmer in his favourite spot on the edge of the box. His left calm footed finish rolled into the bottom left was straight out of his textbook.
It’s his 17th goal of the season, following a beauty in the quarter final against Palmeiras.

Cole Palmer rolls in his second goal against PSG.
Right after that first goal there was a water break, which seemed to come at the perfect time for PSG to reset after a bad start. But instead, it’s the Blues who have taken advantage, extending their lead with yet another Palmer goal.
Once again it came down our right, this time the attacking midfield did it all himself, making space with a couple of perfect dummies before rolling the ball into the far corner in the same manner that he did the first.

There is a long, long way to go in this game, especially against a side of this quality, but you can’t ask for a better start than this. In this heat, we can drain PSG’s legs and the clock with good possession.
