Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has responded to a legal action initiated by the club’s current sporting director, Deco.

Font expressed surprise that a high-ranking executive at Barcelona is investing time and effort in such matters instead of focusing on the club’s essential operations.

Deco’s lawsuit stems from comments made by Font regarding Barcelona’s signing of Vitor Roque. Font had suggested that Deco’s involvement in the transfer may have been questionable.

This legal move has stirred discussions within the Barcelona community, particularly given the timing and nature of the allegations.

Font’s reply to Deco

Font wasted no time in addressing the situation. Through his platform, he acknowledged that his team had not yet received formal confirmation of Deco’s complaint.

However, he stated that they would welcome the opportunity to resolve the matter in court, firmly standing by his claims.

“We do not yet have any evidence about the alleged complaint. If it is confirmed, we will be delighted to have the truth resolved in court,” he wrote on his social media channel.

Font also pointed out that it is concerning for the club’s leadership to spend resources pursuing legal disputes with members rather than transparently explaining their operations to Barcelona’s stakeholders.

“In any case, it is surprising that the club’s executives are spending energy suing members instead of giving explanations to the club’s owners about the operations that are being carried out.

“Many doubts are generated by various actions and it is unjustifiable that the current management always hides behind supposed confidentiality agreements to avoid explaining the reality,” he added.

One of the key points in Font’s remarks revolves around Deco’s previous role as a player agent. According to Font, Deco presented Vitor Roque as a potential signing for Barcelona while he was still an agent, not part of the club’s sporting management.

At that time, the official agent for the player was Andre Cury. Despite this, Font claimed that Deco played an influential role in securing Roque’s move to Barcelona.
