Manchester United and Napoli have reached an agreement for the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund, according to the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio.

Hojlund was frozen out of the team at the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season. He was not named in any of Ruben Amorim’s matchday squads against Arsenal, Fulham and more recently, Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

It’s understood that the Dane does not feature highly in Amorim’s plans and was told that it would be in his best interests to depart Old Trafford.

United and Napoli have been in talks over the past few days regarding an initial loan deal that could become an obligation based on the number of appearances and Napoli’s performance, especially in the Champions League.

The Red Devils were only interested in sanctioning a permanent exit or a loan with an obligation to buy as they have been eager to cut their losses and move on from Hojlund, who has endured a difficult spell since his arrival from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that despite agreeing personal terms with Napoli, Hojlund remains desperate to stay at United and prove himself. But, it looks like he will not get his wish.

According to Di Marzio, United and Napoli have “reached a verbal agreement” for the striker.

Di Marzio adds, ” The player is expected to leave for Italy as early as tomorrow, Friday, August 29th, if all personal arrangements are finalised.”

“His agent, however, will be in the city this evening.”

The obligation to buy Hojlund is believed to be set at €45m, but it only comes into effect if Gli Azzurri secure Champions League qualification.

Hojlund will presumably fill in for Romelu Lukaku, who sustained an injury that is set to sideline him for multiple months.

Hojlund is also poised to be reunited with Scott McTominay, who has emerged as a key player for the Partenopei since joining them last summer.
