At Linz's Hofmann Personal Stadion, our FC Red Bull Salzburg women enjoyed an ideal opening to the ADMIRAL Frauen Bundesliga season - with two incredible strikes seeing off the blue and white defensive effort.

Match summary

Our women made a determined start in their opening league encounter, setting the tone from the word go. Vina Crnoja created trouble, taking aim from a Schirmbrand corner before benefiting from a defenisve lapse from the hosts.

The chances became clearer as the first half progressed - and Emelie Kobler had the best of them saved by Zangerl - but the previously timid hosts also had chances. Kofler rattled the crossbar with a free-kick from distance before the break, before Rauch sent an effort over after the restart.

The Linz period of pressure proved to be short lived, however. Greta Spinn won the ball in the final third in the second half and Crnoja took hold of it before sending a delightful chip over Zangerl. We had our first goal in the women's Bundesliga (49')!

The quality of chances ebbed away, but the hosts' few attacks caused little trouble to our defence - while we got a decisive second goal. Substitute Theresa D’Angelo took aim from around 20 metres out and dispatched the ball in via the crossbar (90+2'). That sealed a dream start for Dusan Pavlovic's crew in the ADMIRAL Frauen Bundesliga!

It was the hard-fought game we expected – Blau-Weiß were strong opponents with a physical presence. They pushed us to the limit, but we found an answer to everything. As the game progressed, we became more and more active and took control in the second half – and therefore deservedly won. It was a successful start to the season, and we are really happy about that. Of course, it sends a strong signal for the coming weeks!
