Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has made a major call when it comes to his starting XI for the club’s next outing.

This comes amid the understanding that Dani Carvajal is set to start over Trent Alexander-Arnold once again.

The subject of the right-back battle has of course proven a prominent talking point surrounding Real Madrid over the season’s early weeks.

This comes after summer signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, as expected, was afforded a starting berth in Los Blancos’ season opener against Osasuna.

In the club’s ensuing outing, a 3-0 downing of Real Oviedo, however, Alexander-Arnold was forced to make do with a spot on the bench.

This came as Dani Carvajal took back the right-back berth in new boss Xabi Alonso’s team.

And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media on Saturday is anything to go by, then this will likely remain the case later today, when Real face off with RCD Mallorca.

As per a report from Diario AS:

‘Carvajal is back in top form, is currently the theoretical starter, and he’s in the starting eleven today.’
