Transfer Twist: Liverpool Refuse to Sacrifice Gomez in Guehi Negotiations

Liverpool've rejected the idea of including Joe Gomez in deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi according to BBC Sport.

Palace push for loan swap

Palace explored the option of accepting around 30m sterling pound for Guehi on condition Gomez joins them on loan.

But Liverpool made it clear they won't sanction any loan exit for the England defender this summer.

Guehi’s contract dilemma

Guehi's declined to sign new deal at Selhurst Park. His current contract runs until 2026 and Palace fear losing him for free in the future. Last year, the London club rejected £65m bid from Newcastle.

Coach Oliver Glasner wants Guehi to stay stressing the difficulty of replacing him. The player, however has signaled no intention of committing long term.

Palace look for alternatives

Palace're now chasing new defensive options. They're close to signing French talent Jaydee Canvot (19) from Toulouse. Contacts were also made with Man City’s Manuel Akanji though doubts remain.

Roma’s Evan Ndicka's another option while Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande proved too expensive.

Key loss already felt

The uncertainty comes after Palace already lost star midfielder Eberechi Eze to Arsenal in £60m transfer earlier this summer.
