A transfer-linked member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week provided an insight into his plans for the summer and beyond.
The player in question? Gerard Martín.
The name of defender Martín has of course taken its place front and centre in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona over recent days.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 23-year-old has been identified as a leading summer target on the part of not one, but two Premier League clubs.
Both Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers are understood to have earmarked Martín as a potential signing with a view to next season.
The left-back for his part touched back down in Catalunya on Thursday, after being forced into a premature departure from the Spanish U21 camp owing to a hand injury.
And upon landing, Martín was immediately drawn on the mounting speculation surrounding his future.
In quotes secured by Jijantes, and relaid by Diario Sport, though, the former Cornellà talent was eager to reiterate his full commitment to the cause at Barcelona:
“These are things that come out. In the end I don’t pay attention, I’m focused on Barça and the truth is that I’m happy with my season. From the staff I also think they are happy with me, my growth and what I still have to improve. The truth is that I don’t think about anything other than Barça. I’m calm.”
