Richarlison has taken to Instagram following his clash with fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli during Sunday’s north London derby.
Martinelli held out his hand towards Richarlison while taking an Arsenal corner in the second half.
But Tottenham’s Richarlison, who entered the fray with 20 minutes left on the clock, blanked his compatriot.
On an otherwise disastrous afternoon for the Spurs faithful, who watched their team lose 2-0 to Premier League-leaders Arsenal for the first time at their new stadium, this incident at least gave them something to smile about.
Watch Richarlison blanking Martinelli here:
It was an eventful cameo for Richarlison, who also confronted Aaron Ramsdale at the full-time whistle shortly before a Tottenham supporter kicked the Arsenal goalkeeper.
Speaking to ESPN after the match, Richarlison issued an apology to Martinelli for ignoring his Brazil teammate but explained his decision.
“I’d like to apologise to Martinelli,” Richarlison told ESPN. “I told him he was diving a lot, so I didn’t shake his hand.
“Also, with Gabriel Magalhaes, I told him they were stopping play all the time. I just said, ‘let’s play’.”
Richarlison has now gone one step further and posted a meme of himself and Martinelli on his Instagram story.
The Photoshopped image shows the two Brazilians in a joint ’t-shirt of friendship’ shirt which has the following message written on it: “T-shirt of union. If you fight, you must wear it. Apologise. Hug it out. Say ‘I love you’.”
In case you’re wondering, this is a Brazilian meme that was originally created after two children were made to wear the t-shirt in question by their mother following a fight.
Clearly this is Richarlison’s way of again saying ‘I’m sorry’ to his mate.
As we all know, friendships go out the window when it comes to derby day.
It was Arsenal who currently have the bragging rights following their first league win away at rivals Tottenham since March 2014.
Mikel Arteta’s side took the lead in the 14th minute thanks to a Hugo Lloris own goal before Martin Odegaard doubled the Gunners’ lead with an accurate strike from distance.
No goals were scored in the second half as Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points.
Arsenal are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2004 and have given themselves an excellent chance of achieving that objective following a hugely impressive first half of the 2022-23 campaign.
