Spurs missing host of first-team players for Sunday’s game
Ange Postecoglou is hoping to welcome back Cristian Romero (foot) for Tottenham against Ipswich but Richarlison, Micky van de Ven and Wilson Odobert (all hamstring) remain out, while Timo Werner (groin) and Mikey Moore (virus) are also expected to miss Sunday's game.
If Romero is fit to return from the foot problem that kept him out of Thursday night's defeat to Galatasaray in the Europa League, he is expected to partner Radu Dragusin at centre-half, while goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie should also come into the back five.
Postecoglou is short of options in his front line with Heung-min Son and Brennan Johnson, who were both hooked at half-time in Istanbul, his only fit wide players, while Dominic Solanke is set to return to the XI after being rested from the start on Thursday.
But the Spurs head coach at least has the luxury of being able to rotate his entire midfield, with Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall likely to make way for Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski.
If Romero is not deemed fit enough to play, Ben Davies is set to fill in at centre-half again, while Archie Gray is pushing for more minutes across the back line or in midfield after a strong showing against Gala.
Spurs predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie; Bentancur, Kulusevski, Sarr; Johnson, Son, Solanke
Injured: Moore, Werner, Odobert, Richarlison, Van de Ven
Time and date: 2pm GMT on Sunday 10 November 2024
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
