However, Spurs may now have a new obstacle in their pursuit of the highly-rated teenager.

While Tottenham have had success in securing young prospects in recent transfer windows, landing Nypan will not be straightforward.

With the clock ticking down on the winter transfer window, Spurs are not the only ones looking to add the talented midfielder to their squad.

A new report suggests that another Premier League club has entered the mix, intensifying the battle for the young prodigy.

While Tottenham weigh up their options, they may now face increased competition from one of their biggest rivals.

According to The Guardian, Arsenal have now made their move for Sverre Nypan, holding talks over a potential deal ahead of the February 3 deadline.

The Gunners are reportedly 'hopeful' of securing his signature, which could be a significant blow to Tottenham’s transfer plans.

Spurs had identified Nypan as a key target in their ongoing strategy of investing in young talent. The 17-year-old plays for Rosenborg and has attracted attention from major European clubs, including Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, and Ajax.

However, Arsenal’s entry into the race adds a new layer of competition, making Tottenham’s task even more challenging.

Nypan is expected to command a fee of around £10 million, with Rosenborg likely to demand additional performance-based clauses as part of the deal.

Aston Villa also remain in the mix, further complicating Tottenham’s chances of securing the midfielder.

Tottenham’s transfer strategy under scrutiny

Some Spurs supporters have voiced frustration over the club’s continued focus on signing young prospects rather than established stars.

However, Tottenham’s approach has yielded promising results in recent years, with players like Pape Sarr, Destiny Udogie, and Archie Gray proving to be smart acquisitions.

"There is no doubt that the squad needs experience, but the strategy of signing young talent has worked for the club," the report states.
