According to a recent revelation from AS, it has been learned that Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo, adding more competition to Liverpool’s long-standing interest.

The Brazilian forward is seen as a top target by both clubs, but Tottenham are staying true to their usual transfer policy as they want the player, but only at the right price.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly keen to negotiate a deal for under €90 million. While that figure would still mark a major investment, Levy wants to take advantage of the solid relationship between Tottenham and Real Madrid to drive the price down.

The North London club is looking to make a statement this transfer window and they feel Rodrygo fits that vision perfectly.

Rodrygo’s future under scrutiny

Despite the interest from England, there has been no formal offer made to Real Madrid so far.

It is said that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have had informal conversations with Rodrygo’s entourage, but nothing has progressed beyond that stage.

Rodrygo himself is not rushing into any decision. Before considering any offer, the forward wants to sit down with new Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.

The two are expected to have a clear conversation once he returns from his vacation. They will then discuss the player’s role in the team going forward.

It is understood that Rodrygo is aware his place in the squad could become secondary this season, especially with Madrid’s attacking depth and the growth of Gonzalo Garcia.

This is why the player is open to leaving if his importance in the squad is reduced, but he wants to hear it directly from Alonso before making any decision.

For now, Tottenham and Liverpool are waiting for clarity, knowing that if Rodrygo decides to leave, the competition will be fierce and likely expensive.
