Tottenham Hotspur believe they are in pole position to secure the signing of Southampton teenage winger Tyler Dibling, despite interest from Newcastle United and Aston Villa, according to talkSPORT.
The 19-year-old has been a bright spark for the Saints this season but is expected to leave St Mary’s once Southampton drop to the Championship, and Tottenham will be waiting with open arms.
Dibling is currently under contract until the summer of 2026 but is reportedly unhappy with the terms of the new deal offered by his club. He will likely get a massive pay increase at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Per the report, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is confident Southampton will drop their £55 million valuation when they head back to the second tier and must make sales to realign their finances to their new reality.
Newcastle and Aston Villa have both enquired about the England under-21 international, but Tottenham appear to be leading the race for his signature.
Dibling has impressed in his debut Premier League campaign, notching four goals and two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
The right-winger, who emerged from Southampton’s esteemed academy, particularly caught the eye with an electrifying performance against Manchester United earlier in the season. One Sky Sports writer enthused, “The teenager looks absolutely fearless on the ball and is capable of moments of magic.”
With Spurs keen to add more young talent to their ranks, they could move quickly to beat their Premier League rivals to the signing of one of English football’s most exciting prospects.
Dibling would give Spurs another option on the right flank, where the North London side currently has Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski.
Tottenham could use Dibling right now after the usually durable Kulusevski picked up a foot injury that could rule him out of action for three to four weeks.
Considering how highly rated he is in England, he would be a coup for Spurs. Southampton manager Ivan Juric hailed him as a player with incredible potential.
