Tottenham opened their 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a win over Burnley on Saturday, but the occasion was marred by a new addition to Thomas Frank’s injury list.

Yves Bissouma was absent from the matchday squad, with Frank confirming at full time that he had picked up an issue in training.

He joins an already extensive list of absentees at Hotspur Way, which includes the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Will Spurs get some positive news this week on injuries? Here’s a look at the latest Tottenham injury news

Destiny Udogie missed Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia after picking up a knee injury while warming up for a friendly clash with Luton.

Thomas Frank confirmed a few days later: “Destiny got a knee injury that we're assessing at the moment that just kept him out for this pre-season tour. When we know more, we'll update more."

Asked for an update in before the Super Cup clash, Frank said: “Destiny is closer and getting closer to train with the group.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma’s wait to play his first competitive minutes of 2025-26 goes on.

The midfielder was left out of the Spurs squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup for disciplinary reasons, but he did not return for a Premier League opener against Burnley, as expected.

Frank confirmed post-match that he had picked up an injury in training ahead of the game.

He said: “Unfortunately he got injured in training yesterday so very unfortunate. An injury we look into how much it is.”

Dejan Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski suffered a serious knee injury in May which required surgery to his patella.

Asked for an update on the player’s condition in July, Frank said of the midfielder: "I don’t like to put a timeline on it [but] put it this way: he’s not ready for the first game of the season."

Kulusevski took to social media recently with a post of him juggling a football with his feet. The caption read: "First time since May."

Frank was quick to temper expectations, though: "Kulusevski is out for a long time, which I spoke about before."

Potential return date: Late 2025

James Maddison

James Maddison is set to miss most, if not all, of the 2025-26 campaign after rupturing his ACL in pre-season.

The injury came in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle earlier this month, and he has since undergone surgery.

Spurs have not put a timeframe on how long Maddison will be out but he is set for a long spell on the sidelines, but he is expected to miss much of this season.

A club statement read: “His surgery will take place in the coming days and, following that, James will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team.

“Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur wishes James a full and speedy recovery. We will be supporting him every step of the way.”

Potential return date: April 2026

Radu Dragusin

Radu Dragusin has been sidelined since January after suffering an ACL injury against Elfsborg in the Europa League, and soon underwent surgery.

The defender recently confirmed that his rehabilitation is going well and he is involved in all the meetings and tactical discussions with Thomas Frank despite being unable to join training with his new manager.

"I had to learn how to walk again. I was on crutches, my knee was really stiff from the surgery. It was a long process but, once I got back to normal walking, it became a positive journey.

He added: "But honestly, I just want to be back on the pitch training with the boys again. I can't wait to be back. I've been working hard, on and off the pitch, with the fitness staff. Once I'm fully fit, I can't wait to be back with the boys and back for the matches too."

Potential return date: Late 2025

Slow start: Kota Takai

Kota Takai

Summer signing Kota Takai is yet to feature for Spurs after picking up a plantar fascia issue.

Takai missed early-summer friendlies against Reading, Wycombe and Luton, before Thomas Frank confirmed: "Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately we don't know the scale of it - weeks."

Potential return date: Unknown

Manor Solomon

After starring on loan at Leeds last season, Manor Solomon has been unable to impress Thomas Frank this season after a mystery injury ruled him out of all the club’s pre-season outings.

Standard Sport understands that he hopes to leave Spurs this summer and return to Leeds, where he spent last season on loan.

He last appeared for Spurs in September 2023.

Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil spent last season on loan at Girona but saw his spell in Spain cut short by a knee ligament injury.

He underwent surgery promptly, and the club unsurprisingly opted against making his move permanent.

Gil has since returned to Hotspur Way to continue his rehabilitation.
