Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a Bosman move for the former Manchester United academy graduate Angel Gomes.

Tottenham are constantly on the lookout for great opportunities in the market and they seem to have found one in Angel Gomes. According to a report from Football Insider, the North London club are very keen on signing the LOSC Lille star on a free transfer in the summer.

Gomes’ contract at the French club runs out at the end of the season and he has made it quite clear that he won’t pen down a new deal. With him available for free, multiple top clubs are willing to enter a bidding war.

West Ham are amongst his admirers and they have stepped up their interest in him as they look to back Graham Potter in the market. While the Hammers are keen, they will face significant competition from Postecoglou’s team, who are long-standing suitors of the midfielder.

They have been scouting him for some time and consider him a great fit for their project. The Australian manager is keen on bringing him back to the Premier League. He feels they lack quality options in the centre of the park, and the Manchester United academy graduate could help their cause. While things didn’t work out for him at Old Trafford, his move to Lille has been instrumental in his development, even earning him a spot in the England national team.

Gomes could be an asset because of his versatility

Gomes prefers playing as a ten, but he can be deployed in a deeper role as well as on the flanks when needed. He could provide competition to James Maddison for the number ten role. He has been likened to the Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

Reinforcing the midfield will be one of their top priorities in the summer, and with Gomes available for free, Tottenham won’t want to miss out on him. But, since there is a lot of interest in his signature, they will have to move quickly to ensure they can bring him to the club.
