Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €60 million (£51.8 million).
The 22-year-old Netherlands international has signed a five-year contract with the option of two more seasons.
He will wear the number seven shirt and is available for Spurs once international clearance and a work permit are confirmed.
Simons completed his medical in London on Thursday before finalising the move.
He is Tottenham’s most expensive signing of the summer window and a major boost to manager Thomas Frank’s squad.
The attacking midfielder joins at a time when Spurs have been searching for creativity following James Maddison’s knee injury.
They missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White, who extended his deal at Nottingham Forest, and Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace.
Simons had also attracted strong interest from Chelsea but opted for Spurs after talks with Frank.
The Dutchman only joined Leipzig permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January for €50 million.
Despite that, Leipzig allowed him to leave following a disappointing seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
At club level, Simons has already featured for PSG, PSV Eindhoven and Leipzig after coming through Barcelona’s La Masia academy.
He first broke through at PSV in the 2022-23 season, finishing as the Eredivisie top scorer with 19 goals and being named Talent of the Season.
PSG re-signed him the following summer but sent him on loan to Leipzig, where he contributed 25 goals across all competitions.
On the international stage, Simons has earned 28 caps for the Netherlands and featured at the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship.
