Manchester City are set to sanction a second transfer exit from their academy ranks within a matter of days, this time doing business with rivals Tottenham.

The latest development follows the transfer of Seth Chingwaro from the club’s academy system down to Fulham after a deal was agreed between the two clubs over the highly-rated midfield talent.

Movement surrounding central midfielders also filters upwards into the first-team picture too, with Jacob Wright believed to be closing in on a move to Swansea City, while there could yet be big-money activity once more before Monday’s deadline.

It is understood that Manchester City are pursuing an agreement for FC Porto and Spain midfielder Nico Gonzalez, having identified the 23-year-old as their primary target for the defensive midfield role in the hours that remain of the winter market.

While talks are ongoing between all parties, there remains a constant dialogue over potential exits too, with Manchester City close to finalising a switch involving Tottenham Hotspur and the City Football Academy.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Tottenham are set to complete a deal for their Academy system via an agreement with Manchester City to sign 18-year-old midfielder Daniel Batty.

It is revealed that the two Premier League giants have now shaken hands on a £500,000 transfer fee for the teenager, with the deal also including future add-ons and a sell-on percentage, with a medical now complete.

The Stalybridge-raised midfielder joined Manchester City’s Academy set-up at Under-8s level and has gone on to progress through each of the club’s age groups becoming largely a key figure in various midfield set-ups.

City themselves view Batty as a creative, attacking midfielder who holds the ability to ‘provide a bit of magic in the attacking third’, while his 11 appearances in 2023/24 set-up a 2024/25 season of significant hopes over the player becoming a senior figure in the Under-18s squad.
