Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya insists it is too early to think about the title despite a vital 2-1 win over Tottenham, which moved them to within four points of leaders Liverpool.

“It’s just too early to think about the end of the season and the title race and everything. It’s like you said, three weeks ago, people are saying that Liverpool had the title in their hands. “It’s just football and everything changes in two or three games. We just have to focus ourselves. Try to win every game and we will see where we are at the end of the season.” The Gunners have been in rocky form over the last few months, seeing Liverpool go nine points ahead of them at one point. To have cut the gap is encouraging, and Raya feels Arsenal can cut the gap even further: “Yeah, of course. In football, everything can happen. Like I said, we just have to focus on ourselves – the next training session, the next recovery, the next game. “Don’t think too much ahead, because that will play badly against us. Focus on ourselves, focus on the next game, don’t think too much about the future, just live the present. That is the most important thing.” A worry for Mikel Arteta’s side will still be the missed chances. They should have scored three or four goals at the Emirates Stadium, and Spurs could have punished them for their wastefulness. “The chances are there, it’s just sometimes the ball doesn’t want to go in. Obviously the other team plays as well, they had good blocks, the keeper made a couple of good saves and that’s it. “The only thing is sometimes when they have a chance, the ball goes in the back of the net because, like today, there is a defection. We just have to keep going, keep creating those chances and from those situations, the ball is going to go in, in the end.” Arsenal’s goalkeeper will be hoping his attackers can be more clinical when the Gunners take on Aston Villa on Saturday, and that he can keep his first clean sheet of the year.
