Tony Ralston has spoken out about the links of a Celtic return for Kieran Tierney. The Scotland Internationalist has been heavily linked with a return to Celtic in the last 24 hours after reports emerged that Arsenal decided against exercising the option to extend his contract.
Celtic and Brendan Rodgers are eager to spark a reunion by bringing Tierney back to Celtic Park, which prompted Ralston to be asked about a return for KT in the media conference on Thursday afternoon.
“I’m not overly aware of the situation, but in terms of what you’re asking about him himself. I know him very well in terms of him being here before and in the Scotland set-up over the past few years and he’s a great guy and obviously a terrific player.
“As I say, I don’t know much about the situations or anything like that, but to answer your question, he’s a top player and whatever he decides to do it’ll work out.“
Ralston was coy on the links and the changing room will likely be eager for Tierney to return. It has changed significantly since he left in 2019 but guys like Ralston, Callum McGregor and James Forrest remain.
Tierney was injured during Euro 2024, an injury that limited his chances to move on in the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old started the win over Crystal Palace in the League Cup on Wednesday but was forced off with a slight knock.
Ralston made his debut in Brendan’s first season, which resulted in an Invicible Treble. KT was a key figure in that Celtic team and continued in an upward trajectory until he left the club in August 2019 for £25m.
