Sandro Tonali is not considering leaving Newcastle with the player’s agent having dismissed talk of a return to Italy.
Tonali has been linked with a potential return to Serie A after impressing in the Premier League this season. The Italy international has been a key part of Newcastle’s challenge for Champions League qualification and progress to the Carabao Cup final.
In 2023, Newcastle spent around €70m to sign Tonali from AC Milan but the midfielder’s debut campaign was decimated by suspension. Found guilty of breaching betting rules during his career in Serie A, Tonali was banned from football for nine months.
He has established himself as a central part of Eddie Howe’s side since returning and the player’s agent, Beppe Riso, believes Tonali is now out of reach for Italian clubs.
He called the 24-year-old ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’ and says Serie A sides could not afford a deal to sign him.
“Sandro is one of the best midfielders in the world,” Riso stated. “He now has a value that Italian clubs will find difficult to afford. I envision a career for him away from Serie A.”
