Here’s a list of three players Tottenham Hotspur could target as free agents in upcoming transfer windows.
By now, we all know how Daniel Levy and ENIC operate — on the cheap. Whatever your opinion of the Spurs hierarchy is, it is objectively true. It is not ideal, but that is the reality of the situation.
With that in mind, it is always particularly useful for Spurs to make value-for-money signings. Players that don’t come at a premium, but can add something to the squad.
Here are three players with expiring contracts, who would add something to the Spurs first team squad. Note: this does not include the already well-documented players such as Angel Gomes, Jonathan David, Kyle Walker-Peters, and so on.

Currently having a very good season with Nottingham Forest, Ola Aina has developed a reputation as a reliable full-back. The 28-year-old has been a very consistent player for Forest since joining from Torino in the summer of 2023.
Although a full Nigeria international, with 44 caps, Aina was born and raised in England and would qualify as a homegrown player — which is always convenient.
Of course, he is a great player on top, and Spurs wouldn’t be adding a subpar player for the sake of being homegrown.
Crucially, Aina can cover both sides as a full-back. Whilst Archie Gray has generally been fine there, it is clear that he is naturally a midfielder.
Ange does not seem to fancy Djed Spence, and the full-back pairing of Pedro Porro + Destiny Udogie are already being worked too hard. Homegrown, reliable, and experienced depth on both sides seems sensible.

Currently at Wolves, Lemina has consistently shown his quality during his time at the West Midlands outfit.
Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box, or even as a centre-back in recent games, the Gabonese midfielder would offer real quality and versatility to the Spurs squad.
Known perhaps more for his ability on the ball, Lemina is also a very tenacious player. His 3.0 tackles a game in the Premier League is .3 more a game than any Spurs player, and over 1 per game more than any midfielder at the club.
Of course, Wolves having a lot less of the ball needs to be factored in, but impressive numbers in any case.

Another midfielder, but positions of greater need have either been linked (and as mentioned before, avoiding those players) and/or in a position where there is not much on the market, meaning Spurs will have to fork out cash in those areas.
The 29-year-old has experience in the Premier League before, having played for Fulham in the 18/19 and 20/21 seasons.
Since then, he has moved to Napoli and started 36 games in the 22/23 season, where they won their first title since (or before) Diego Maradona.
The midfielder has tenacity to his game, often playing at the heart of a midfield, but is also superb on the ball.
His 2.7 successful dribbles per game in the 20/21 Premier League season was the third most of any player in the league that campaign.
