Q: Callum, you’ve got a smile on your face. You’re here in the Celtic home dressing room. Looks like you’re glad to be a Celtic player.

Callum Osmand: “It feels unbelievable. I’m just so happy to be here. It was a big, big step for me and I’m just excited, excited to get going.”

Q: It is a huge step. You’ve spent your teenage years playing at the renowned Fulham Academy. How big a move is this for you moving up to Celtic?

Callum Osmand: “Yes, it’s massive. Like I said, I’m just really excited. I just can’t wait to step out at Celtic Park and just in front of all the fans, just really excited to get going.”

Q: And for your family and everyone, it’s a big day.

Callum Osmand: “Yes, it’s massive. My family’s been supporting me and my agency and everyone’s been pushing me on and helping me get to where I am today, so I’m really grateful.”

Q: So tell us a bit about your football journey so far. You are still young, you’re still just a teenager, but do you feel you’re at that stage in your career now where you need to be getting more senior football?

Callum Osmand: “I feel I’m ready. I feel I’ve been ready. I feel I’m at the level. I feel fit and I just want to get playing senior football. I want to show what I can do really on a proper stage.”

Q: I mentioned the renowned Fulham Academy. It’s a relationship with Celtic that goes back a bit, the likes of Moussa Dembele, Patrick Roberts, Matt O’Riley as well. What is it about the way Fulham coaches its young players and brings them through to the senior level?

Callum Osmand: “Fulham’s got a brilliant academy setup. The coaches are top as well. So it’s a credit to Fulham really, the way they bring up players and get them ready for senior football. Obviously there’s been multiple names, Moussa, Matt. I’ve spoken to Matt on the phone, so he’s given me advice and basically explained everything. I already knew what he was going to say, you can sort of tell. He was telling me how big the club is, how amazing the fans are and it’s a new life really, so I’m just, like I said, excited is the word for me.”

Q: Describe yourself as a as a player then to our supporters?

Callum Osmand:“I’d say I’m more of a quick striker, not your classic massive hold-up sort of player, but I’m more mobile and I like to bring some excitement to the team, a bit of runs in behind and just work rate.”

Q: Celtic is a team that’s traditionally renowned for its attacking football. We love strikers, we love scoring goals, if it’s 3-0, we want it to be 4-0, 5-0. Is that the kind of system you like to play in?

Callum Osmand:“Yes. I think it was the, obviously the winning mentality at Celtic is unbelievable. I’m coming here and it’s a must-win mentality. That’s what I like to set myself at wherever I’m playing, just must-win games. And everything seems to be, if it’s 1-0, we’ve got to make it 2-0, 3-0. I just want to keep pushing on and never settle.”

Q: Development is one thing, of course, as a teenager, but at a club like Celtic, it’s the expectation, it’s the pressure, it’s that winning mentality. Is that what you’re looking forward to? Is that what you hope you can thrive in?

Callum Osmand: “I just want to win trophies here. I want to win games, win as much as we can really. Every game I step into here, I want to win. And I feel we have all the facilities and players and staff to do so.”

Q: And of course an elite manager. I’m sure you’ve spoken to to Brendan Rodgers. How much are you looking forward to seeing how far he can take you?

Callum Osmand: “The manager, when I spoke to him, he’s really positive and the pathway and plan he has set out for the club is top. So it’s exciting. And the pathway he has for me and the set out of what he wants for me, he’s told me what he wants for me, and it’s all really, really positive and I can’t wait to get going.”

Q: In the modern day, you do interviews, you do photographs, digital media, all that, but I’m sure you just can’t wait to get onto the training pitch, onto the football pitch with the boots on.

Callum Osmand: “That’s it. That’s where you can do the talking really. You can do all the talking here, but if you can’t do it on the pitch, then it doesn’t mean anything. So I just can’t wait to get out there and just have the boots on and play.”

Q: And of course, you’ve got a big preseason ahead of you now, a real good opportunity for you to get to know your teammates, get to know the coaches as well. How important is this preseason going to be?

Callum Osmand:“Yes, it’s going to be massive for me. I think I’ve kept myself fit. I feel I’m at my level now, so if I can just kick on straight through preseason and do well, then I’ll be in a good place.”

Q: They say Glasgow’s a bit of a goldfish bowl, with Celtic being a massive club. It takes a certain kind of character, a certain kind of personality to survive and thrive in that atmosphere. Do you think that’s something that you’re going to be able to do?

Callum Osmand:“Yes, I feel I’ve got to just take every moment as it comes and just build on the tough moments, build on the more nervy moments. I feel if you can get through those bigger moments, then you’re set for anything. ‘Cause if you can do it at Celtic, there’s nowhere else that’ll be bigger.”
