Chelsea have just been beaten 3-0 by Brighton in a game which is being called the worst of the Enzo Maresca period at the club so far.
It wasn’t just painful to watch, The stats from the game are equally horrifying:
“Chelsea didn’t manage a single shot on target against Brighton, despite having almost 70% of the ball,” pointed out TNT Sports, highlighting the absurd difference between how much ball we had and how little impact we made in the opposition’s box.
The expected goals were horrifying – 0.57 for the Blues, to 1.7 for Brighton. 5 big chances to the Seagulls, 0 for Enzo Maresca’s team.

We played the same opposition a week ago, and in that game we manged just ONE shot on target. So it’s a grand total of one shot on target in 180 minutes against Brighton. Let’s not forget – the preceding game to that one saw the Seagulls lose SEVEN – NIL to Nottingham Forest.
All we had to do was get at them, and we totally failed to do that. We are missing players, no doubt – but that squad put out today was stronger than anything Nottingham Forest can offer.
As Jamie Carragher said on the commentary, we were lucky to only concede 3, it could have been a few more if Brighton had made the most of their chances.
It’s just not good enough, from the players, the manager who is putting them out there, and the people who have bought them in the first place. The whole thing is rotten from top to bottom, as we’ve said time and again. We aren’t taking a step back in order to launch forwards, we’re just falling further and further behind.
