Now officially the winners of the 2024 edition of the European Championship, Spain overcame England in a 2-1 victory. However, by a clear margin, the biggest name and most highlighted Barcelona player at this tournament was Lamine Yamal himself, and the young 17-year-old winger seemed to have the entire continent at his feet.

After winning the title itself, and also becoming the recipient of the Best Young player at the Euro award, Lamine Yamal has hardly left any stone unturned. As highlighted by SPORT, the young Barcelona prodigy has managed to break seven major records during his Euro campaign with Spain.

The youngest winner of the European Championship:

By overcoming England in the final, the Barcelona teenager has become the youngest ever winner of the Euros. Lamine Yamal overtakes the former holder of the record, Renato Sanches, who won the 2016 edition with Portugal at the age of 18 years and 328 days.

The youngest to play in a Euro final:

At 17 years and one day old, essentially a day after his birthday, Yamal became the youngest performer ever in a European Championship final, and did so as a key starter rather than as a substitute later on.

The youngest assist-provider in a Euro final:

Early into the second half of the game, Yamal took the ball from the right wing and drove it towards the middle before laying off an accurate pass for Spanish compatriot and potential Barcelona teammate Nico Williams to open the scoring. This 47th minute assist by Yamal makes him the youngest to ever do so in a Euro final.

Against Croatia, in their opening game of the group stage of the tournament, Lamine Yamal became the youngest ever debutant in the competition’s history, overtaking former Polish player Kacper Kozlowski, who was 17 years and 246 days old at the time of Euro 2020.

In the very same match against Croatia, the young Barcelona winger provided a scintillating ball to Dani Carvajal for Spain’s third goal of the game, and this particular assist made him the youngest assist-provider in the history of the competition.

The youngest player in the Euros knockout stage:

After qualifying from the group stage, Yamal’s start against Georgia in the Round of 16 of the tournament made him the competition’s youngest ever appearance holder in the knockout stage of the competition. He surpassed Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham for this record, who was aged at 18 years and 4 days when he made his appearance with England in the last edition of the competition.

Arguably the record that Lamine Yamal most cherished, the Barcelona academy product made sure to leave his mark in the record books of the Euros by scoring an absolute screamer
