The transfer window has only been open a few days, but Premier League clubs have been moving quickly to get business done before it closes again.

Only six days remain in the first part of this summer’s bifurcated window, so we’ve picked out a few of the deals that seem primed to pick up pace this week.

Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd

If there’s one thing Manchester United are targeting this summer, it’s Premier League experience. After agreeing to pay Wolves £62.5 million to sign Matheus Cunha, the Red Devils have turned their attention to Brentford‘s Bryan Mbeumo.

This one seems like it’s in the bag. United want him, he wants United, and Brentford appear willing to let him get the move to a big club he deserves. it should be considered a bit of a coup, too, given Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle United, all Champions League clubs, were supposedly in for him.

This story has grown legs very quickly over the past few days, so don’t be surprised if we see reports of a medical being underway by the end of the week.

Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal

Arsenal‘s need for a top centre-forward has been talked to death. Fortunately, that discourse may be a thing of the past soon enough as the club’s search has been whittled down to two names after they reportedly admitted defeat on the possibility of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

Viktor Gyokeres seems like an obvious move, given he is destined to leave Sporting Club, but the Gunners are also interested in Benjamin Sesko, a link that goes back to last summer. Both strikers would command a hefty transfer fee, arguably more that they are worth, but Arsenal have put themselves in this position by not solving this problem last summer.

Don’t be surprised if one or the other move doesn’t get over the line before Tuesday’s deadline, though.

Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders & Rayan Ait-Nouri to Man City

With the Fifa Club World Cup just a week and a half away, Manchester City are keen to get business done swiftly and smoothly.

Florian Wirtz was their first port of call when it came to replacing Kevin De Bruyne, but evidently they did not want to get caught up in a bidding war with Liverpool, so they pivoted to Rayan Cherki instead. The French attacker is the next best thing and available at a fraction of the price. Questions over his attitude and defensive game remain, but his creative prowess is not in doubt; no player in Europe’s top five leagues produced more expected assists per 90 (0.53xA) than him.

Midfield was a problem area for City during an underwhelming, trophyless campaign, so they are also looking to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. He completed the fifth-most passes in the final third in Serie A last season, while his defending has gradually improved over the years. Milan are resigned to losing one of their key players, so a quick deal is expected.

Lastly, the backline is in need of strengthening, so it’s perhaps a tad surprising that they are going for an attacking full-back like Rayan Ait-Nouri. That said, the Wolves man is no slouch when it comes to his defensive responsibilities; the Algerian is a good tackler and rarely loses his concentration on the pitch. With City and Wanderers closing in on a deal, it will be fascinating to see how Pep Guardiola uses the Algerian dribbler in his setup.
