The arrival of a new left-winger is something that FC Barcelona is seriously contemplating and assessing. For much of the transfer window already, that has been the priority for La Blaugrana. Unfortunately, it seems that Barcelona have had some delays in that regard.
With the club looking to generate revenue and possibly looking to make a high-value sale as well, Barça’s priorities lie elsewhere for now. However, sooner or later they will have to address the arrival of a new left-winger.
Even though Nico Williams managed to slip away, other options remain alive and realistic for the club to still manage. As of right now, the two options being linked to Barcelona most regularly are Liverpool forward Luis Diaz and Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford.

However, the arrival of any new left-winger is likely to shake things up at Barcelona. The reason behind this, as highlighted by MARCA, would be that Hansi Flick would then have to adjust his tactical system and setup at the club to accommodate the new arrival.
As of right now, Barcelona have a system that worked extremely well last season as Hansi Flick managed the team according to it. However, if a new left-winger were to arrive, it would lead to Flick needing to switch up positions and places for other players.
Raphinha, for instance, would likely have to adapt to a new role as a central attacking midfielder. A position that he is more than capable of thriving in, as shown on the few occasions that he has played there, it would not be too much of a hassle for him.
However, that would then have a domino effect that could lead to bigger and more significant differences in the team’s setup. For instance, Dani Olmo would no longer be the starting player as Raphinha would take his spot, and the Spaniard would not exactly be left with a clear role on the pitch.
In fact, even players other than Olmo such as Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Ferran Torres will all be displaced and will likely have to be moved around. As for the right-winger position, that will remain simply untouchable as Lamine Yamal holds down that particular role for Barcelona.
However, while players like Yamal and the more versatile Ferran Torres will still get their respective opportunities as per their own unique expectations, other players will likely be led to the bench. Even further back in the midfield, moreover, positions are not exactly open either.
While Pedri will likely stay there as an untouchable player in the Barcelona midfield, and rightfully so, the position next to him will be fought for. The likes of Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Marc Casado, and soon even Marc Bernal will end up fighting for minutes. As for Pedri, the praise he receives should be enough to explain why he is a guarantee for Flick.
Ultimately, however, despite the expectation of limited minutes for most players in the team, there is optimism at Barcelona. For Hansi Flick and the club, having such a diverse and competitive squad is exactly what is needed to compete for every single competition possible.
