FLW takes a look at those Ipswich Town players who may never wear the club's famous colours again after their Premier League relegation.
Ipswich Town are preparing for life back in the Championship after finishing 19th in the Premier League table last season.
Kieran McKenna’s side were unable to survive in the top flight after gaining automatic promotion from the Championship 12 months ago.
The Tractor Boys have already seen Liam Delap depart as a consequence of their disappointing league finish, with the forward moving to Chelsea for £30m.
The summer transfer window could be quite a busy one at Portman Road, with further potential exits on the cards amid their return to the second tier.
As such, we look at the players who may never put the Ipswich shirt on again…
Dara O’Shea was one of Ipswich’s new signings when the club gained promotion to the Premier League last summer.
The defender has earned a lot of top flight experience in his career, making 96 appearances in the division between stints at Portman Road, Burnley and West Brom.
According to The Irish Sun, the centre-back is now attracting interest over a potential return to the Premier League this summer.
Clubs such as Leeds United and Wolves, as well as former club Burnley, have all been mentioned as potential destinations.
If a reasonable offer is submitted in the coming weeks, it’s easy to imagine a sale coming to fruition, which would mean O’Shea has maybe already played his final game for the Suffolk outfit.
However, it is likely a big bid will need to be made given the Irishman has a contract with Ipswich until 2029.
Leif Davis was a crucial part of Ipswich’s rapid rise from League One to the Premier League.
The full-back has made 119 league appearances across the last three seasons at Portman Road, contributing six goals and 34 assists in that time on a deal worth £25,000 per week (per an estimated figure from Capology).
This has led to speculation over his future following the Tractor Boys’ relegation, with TWTD reporting in May that Nottingham Forest are keeping tabs on the player.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are an exciting prospect given their qualification for the UEFA Conference League next season, so that could be an enticing move for Davis.
Omari Hutchinson also signed for Ipswich on a permanent basis last summer following their promotion to the Premier League.
The winger was a key figure in the top flight, playing in 31 of their 38 league fixtures, whilst he also played a key role in helping the club win promotion to the top flight, having bagged 10 goals and five assists in 44 second tier appearances whilst on loan with the club from Chelsea in 2023/24.
He contributed three goals and two assists in the Premier League this past season, including scoring in a 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United, as well as a 2-0 victory over Chelsea.
It was reported in May that the 21-year-old has a release clause in his contract that is now active due to the club’s relegation. It is believed that it will take £35million to sign Hutchinson, with no immediate suitors stepping forward.
However, it is still early days in the window, and it’s very possible someone could be tempted into making a move given factors such as his age, and the fact he's English too, which always helps when it comes to meeting squad registration quotas.
Given the nature of the release clause, Ipswich don’t have a lot they can do to hold onto the player if someone triggers it, as they found out with Delap’s move to Chelsea.
Aro Muric started last season as Ipswich’s first-choice goalkeeper, but was replaced by Alex Palmer in the January market.
Given his experience as a top flight goalkeeper, he may not want to stay at the club and play second fiddle in the Championship.
While he only made the switch to Portman Road last summer from Burnley, his time with Ipswich could come to an end this year if he seeks regular first-team football elsewhere.
