The Club World Cup final is now set after PSG ruthlessly thrashed Real Madrid in New Jersey to advance.

This is how the second semi-final went down.

What happened? 📝

PSG quite simply blew Real Madrid away in New Jersey, capitalising on several errors to run the scoreline up and handing Xabi Alonso a chastening 4-0 defeat.

Ousmane Dembélé set up Fabián Ruiz for an early opener before pouncing on an Antonio Rüdiger error to make it 2-0 after just eight minutes.

The Spaniard scored his second of the game with a crisp finish before Real afforded PSG the freedom of the penalty area in the closing stages - allowing Gonçalo Ramos to put the icing on the cake.

Player of the Day 🔥

There were several contenders in the PSG ranks for this one.

But we're giving the nod to Ruiz, who scored twice in an outstanding midfield performance.

He scooped the official Player of the Match honour and is earning some well-earned plaudits for his displays in the heart of the action - having often been overshadowed by Vitinha and João Neves.

The former Napoli man now has a chance to finish up as the tournament's top scorer if he can keep his heroics up this weekend.

What this means 🤔

The Club World Cup final is now set, with PSG facing Chelsea at MetLife Stadium, where they will be big favourites to bring the trophy back to the Parc des Princes.

Real Madrid's tournament is now over, with no third place play-off game taking place.

What they said 🗣️

"Ousmane Dembélé has been the best player this season by far. He was excellent again and he deserves to win everything. He gave everything for a team that's going to win many titles and that's the important thing. Any football fan will enjoy watching him." Luis Enrique

"The feelings aren't good but we must learn from this. PSG are a team who have been built over two years and we're just at the beginning of our journey so it will take time but we must stop making the same mistakes. We must be a team that plays together in every phase." Xabi Alonso

"It doesn't matter who we play. We will not change our style and how we do things against anyone. This time, it was Real Madrid who we pressed. We are always confident in ourselves." Vitinha
