Guadalajara is playing for everything in the closing match of the Clausura 2025 and this Saturday they will visit Monterrey as part of Matchday 14 of the Clausura 2025. Only one win will keep the Rebaño, who need the three points at all costs to stay in the fight for a place in the Liguilla.

Regarding this match, which will be played this Saturday, April 5, there is a precedent on the same date, but in 2017, that reminds us of an epic night for Chivas at the Steel Giant, and we remember it below.

To find the antecedent we are referring to, we have to go to the Semifinals of the MX Cup in CL17. Guadalajara and Rayados met on Monterrey soil and yes, although it may sound hard to believe, the only time these two teams had faced each other on April 5 was in the run-up to Chiverío's most recent Copa MX title.

That night, Chivas went behind to an early goal by Rogelio Funes Mori, so they had to push themselves to the limit in the second half. Alan Pulido appeared at 60' to equalize the score, after making a determined run into the box to finish with a right-footed shot. The comeback came to fruition at 81', when Ángel Zaldívar converted a penalty, deceiving the goalkeeper and sending Guadalajara to the Grand Final against Monarcas Morelia.

What other curiosities are there in Guadalajara vs Monterrey?- This will be the second time that the two teams have faced each other on Matchday 14. The only previous meeting was a 1-1 draw in AP19.- Javier 'Cabo' Valdivia made his debut with Guadalajara with a brace against Monterrey on Matchday 1 of the 1960-61 campaign.- Tomás Balcázar's last goal for Chivas in La Liga was against Rayados in the first round of the 1956-57 season, a match that ended with a 4-0 win for the Guadalajara team.- Víctor Guzmán made his professional debut against Monterrey, when he wore the Tuzos' jersey in AP15. Curiously, Guzmán also played his first match with the Rebaño against La Pandilla, when he came on as a substitute at 80' in Matchday 1 of CL23.
