FC Barcelona has been fortunate enough to be blessed with some of the greatest talents that the game has ever seen. From Lionel Messi to the likes of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, and several other icons, talent has never been scarce at the club. Today, a new generation dreams of leading this Barcelona.
For them, it is about recreating the glory of the past but in their own unique way. Led by Hansi Flick’s risky style of football, this team full of young magicians dreams of creating their own legacy moving forward.
However, if there was one name to be singled out as the face of this revolution at Barça, it would be Lamine Yamal. The now 18-year-old winger may have celebrated his birthday just recently, but his aspirations remain as clear as they ever were.

As quoted by SPORT, the Barcelona star recently spoke after celebrating his birthday and made a wish to win the two major titles that he is still to win for his club and country:
“Turning 18, I wish to achieve everything we had at 16 and 17, with the title we’re missing—the Champions League—and also the World Cup. Those are the ones I’m missing. My mindset tells me I have to go out and win.”
However, instead of thinking about his age or about how many years he has left to give, Yamal wants those titles now. He also made a bold statement to bring the Champions League to Barcelona and the FIFA World Cup to Spain, considering that the next edition of tournament is scheduled to take place in 2026:
“I’m not thinking about how many years I’ve got ahead—I want to win now. I’ll try and give everything to make it happen. I just want to tell the fans that we’ll be there, fighting, and the Champions League will come home. The World Cup too.”
This kind of mentality is exactly what is needed at Barcelona, and the young star is brimming with confidence. After all, he is the destined one to inherit Messi’s iconic number ‘10’ at the club, and even the greats of the game believe he has the personality for it.
Moreover, even rivals cannot help but praise the player’s quality. Recently, Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos even stated that he was not on the same level as Yamal back when he was at his age as well. That just goes on to show what kind of a generational talent is being dealt with here.
