Here we are, Sara. This is it.

After 153 appearances collected over eight years, countless battles won together and 13 trophies in black and white - which only add to your already-long list of honours - including this latest, and perhaps sweetest, Scudetto, the time has come to say goodbye.

We couldn’t have come up with a better ending than this one - bowing out with Juventus Women having retaken their place at the top of Italian football with the Serie A title, and the only fitting finish to a career like yours is one that ends with a trophy being raised to the sky. It’s something we’ve seen so many times while we’ve been together, all as part of this Juventus family.

You’ve been a pillar of the team since day one, both on and off the pitch, you wore the captain’s armband on your arm, and you were a reference point for Italian women’s football.

It goes without saying, you are a Juventus legend.

You are a woman who, in no uncertain terms, changed the perception of the whole women’s football movement in our country.

Sara, you revolutionised not only our team, but Italian women’s football as a whole. You are the epitome of tenacity, you are endurance personified, you sum up what it means to be Juventus.

There will be time for us to get used to the idea of not seeing you around the group, in the dressing room, and at the heart of our defence, but all we feel right now is the need to say thank you.

Thank you for what you taught us, and thank you for everything you did during your time wearing our shirt.

It would have been impossible to ask you for more.
