Mauro Tassotti believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic might be lacking some of the experience needed to be a director at AC Milan, and that he must be ready to face criticism.
Yesterday’s game against Genoa brought about the first public signs that the Milan fans are not happy with Ibrahimovic. When he was shown on the big screen at San Siro, there was a smattering of jeers aimed at the Swede.
Gerry Cardinale, the founder and No.1 of RedBird Capital, brought Ibrahimovic back to Milan one year ago, entrusting him with a Senior Advisor role. It may be a vague job title but it is an all-encompassing position, with a wide range of influence and also media responsibilities.
Tassotti spoke about Ibrahimovic and the criticism he received from fans during an interview with Radio Anch’io Sport, with his comments relayed by MilanPress.
“Being a player is one thing, being a director is another, especially with those responsibilities, even if his tasks are not very clear,” he said.
“It takes a bit of experience, which Ibra doesn’t have. He’s getting the hang of it, maybe he’ll make some mistakes. And then the results have to help you, even Galliani and Braida, when the results didn’t come, were contested.”
