Chelsea are now set for a busy summer window and have already secured the signing of Liam Delap, whilst they are also looking to sign a centre back and a striker.

Chelsea to being talks over new Caicedo deal soon

Whilst incomings are important it’s also vital Chelsea keep hold of their best players who are inevitably going to be linked with moves away.

Caicedo falls into that category and the Ecuadorian has had an absolutely superb season, which saw him start all 38 Premier League games.

The 23-year-old cleaned up at Chelsea’s end of season awards, and Caicedo also got himself on the scoresheet in the Conference League final.

Caicedo has been linked with a shock move to Saudi side Al Nassr, but Chelsea are keen to reward him with a new deal and Romano has provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea have already started working internally on new deal to be proposed to Moisés Caicedo. Talks to start soon.”

You would imagine a new deal for Caicedo would be similar to extensions signed by Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, and would be thoroughly deserved given his form.

Santos and Essugo to bolster the midfield

Midfield is arguably Chelsea’s strongest area of the squad with Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia, but further reinforcements are set to arrive.

Andrey Santos will return from Strasbourg after an excellent loan and is set for a key place in the squad, whilst Dario Essugo will also join from Sporting Lisbon.

Essugo is expected to provide much needed cover for Caicedo and both he and Santos are expected to make their debut at the Club World Cup.
