Here is all the latest Liverpool news from Saturday 7 September. Liverpool have been linked with a Virgil van Dijk replacement, the Reds may be on the brink of another injury crisis and a former Premier League striker has dropped a shocking revelation about Mo Salah.

FSG in talks with streaming giants

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were seen meeting with Netflix, amid reports that they had signed a collaboration agreement, as they seek to expand their influence into the ever-growing world of digital entertainment.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced that it will follow an MLB team over the course of the 2024 season, documenting FSG's Boston Red Sox as they compete across ups and downs in one of the most rabid sports environments in the league.

John Henry's wife Linda Pizzuti confirmed the meeting with Netflix, writing on Instagram: "Netflix X FSG, so many exciting projects..."

Any partnership will likely focus on producing sports documentaries, docuseries and behind-the-scenes content, providing unprecedented access to the inner workings of some of the world's most successful sports teams. By aligning with Netflix, FSG can tap into the streaming platform’s vast global network, ensuring that Liverpool, the Red Sox and other FSG properties gain even more visibility across the world.

Liverpool linked with Bundesliga invincible

Life after Virgil van Dijk is a world that Liverpool fans don’t really want to think about, but the defender dominance and presence cannot last forever. With the defender being 33 years old and further issues surrounding the extension of his contract, Liverpool will need to start thinking about replacing him in the long term.

Having already been linked to young Brazilian prospect Vitor Reis from Palmeiras as a replacement, another report suggests that Liverpool are in for a more experienced defender.

Christian Falk for CaughtOffside has reported that fans should ‘keep an eye’ on Bayer Leverkusen centre-half Jonathan Tah. The 28-year-old was heavily linked to Bayern Munich in the summer, but the giants did not meet his valuation.

The German defender has already been linked with Liverpool before, during an injury crisis for the Reds last year.

Falk then speaks of his connection to the Reds, saying: “In the far-flung future, they will need a successor for Virgil van Dijk. Jonathan Tah could be that for Liverpool. They are also on the table at this time.”

Mac Allister latest after fresh injury blow

Mac Allister starred in Argentina's 3-0 win over Chile, having opened the scoring for the world champions soon after the interval. It wasn't the perfect night for the midfielder however, as he was forced off in the later stages of the game through injury, which sparked concerns amongst the Liverpool faithful.

Mac Allister has been confirmed to have an adductor injury. The midfielder will train separately until Tuesday in order to be ready for their match against Luis Diaz's Colombia, according to Gaston Edul.

There's good news and potential bad news in this for Liverpool. The good being his injury is evidently minor, with there being a chance he could feature against Colombia next week, but it runs the risk of further injury if he is rushed back too soon.

Mac Allister had claimed he felt discomfort in training leading up to the Chile game, ultimately being a doubt for the game, but fears of a potential injury were eased when he posted photos on social media of himself looking sharp in Argentina's sessions.

Serie A midfielder reveals extent of Liverpool interest

Had Liverpool revived its historic links with Denmark this summer, nobody would have been happier than the midfielder at the centre of the transfer speculation.

Liverpool's search for a number six, which ended in frustration with Martin Zubimendi's decision to stay with boyhood club Real Sociedad, reportedly also pulled Genoa's defensive midfielder Morten Frendrup into its scope.

Frendrup has been speaking about the speculation for the first time, while on international duty with Denmark this week.

The 23-year-old told Tipsbladet: “It is clear that it [Liverpool] is a huge club, but there is a long way from concrete interest.”

“For me, it's about doing it as well as possible. My agent has to take care of everything else.”

Free agent demands more in wages than Van Dijk earns

Adrien Rabiot's contract demands have been revealed as the Frenchman remains without a club. Rabiot walked away from Juventus upon the expiry of his contract, having played 35 times for the Italian giants last campaign.

He remains without a club beyond the beginning of the domestic campaign, and a big reason for that could be down to his extortionate wage demands.

The 29-year-old wants a €40 million package over the next three seasons, which would make him Liverpool's second-highest paid player, earning more than the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker.

Rabiot seemed like a smart coup on a free transfer with European and international pedigree, but it's safe to say with demands that high, he'll be lucky to find a suitor in Europe, which is his preference as he seeks Champions League football.

Former striker reveals Salah's extension rocked boat

Ex-Premier League striker Troy Deeney has suggested that Mohamed Salah’s previous contract extension could now be causing Liverpool problems.

Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian King penned a contract extension with Liverpool in July 2022, but now only has a year left on that deal.

When Liverpool last extended Salah’s contract they offered him a reported club-record £350,000 a week, making him the highest earner at the club.

Salah has been one of the Premier League’s best players since he arrived at Liverpool in 2017, but now the 32-year-old could leave Merseyside for free if his contract isn’t extended again.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Watford striker Deeney revealed that Salah’s previous contract extension had ‘rocked the boat’ at Liverpool and that now the club are in a difficult position.

Liverpool want Real Madrid star as Salah replacement

Mohamed Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and if the Egyptian leaves Liverpool then the club will need to sign a high-quality replacement.

Mohamed Salah

Salah, 32, sent shockwaves through the football world last week when he declared that this would be his final season at Anfield, emphasising that no contract offer had yet been forthcoming.

With his future coming under increased scrutiny, high-profile right-wingers have been linked with an arrival on Merseyside next summer.

One of the most persistent links comes in the form of Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo Goes.

With Real having signed Endrick and Kylian Mbappe, it could mean Rodrygo ends up being squeezed out of the first-team picture at the Bernabeu.

Rest in peace Ron Yeats

Liverpool FC earlier announced the death of Ron Yeats, following a previous announcement that the former captain was suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Yeats, who passed away aged 86, was the first Liverpool captain to lift the FA Cup and still sits 22nd in the Reds all-time appearance list.

Perhaps one of Bill Shankly’s most famous signings, Yeats joined Liverpool from Dundee United in 1961 and went on to make 454 appearances for the club.

When Shankly unveiled Yeats as a Liverpool player, he invited members of the press to come and take a close-up look at his new defender, famously saying: “Take a walk around my centre half. He’s a colossus!”
