Suriname and Guatemala advance to Final Round of Qualifiers | OneFootball

MIAMI – Suriname and Guatemala secured a top two finish in their respective groups as the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 continued on Friday.

The Road to the 2026 continues for Concacaf nations with the final encounters of the Second Round during the June 2025 match window. The group winners and runners-up will progress to the Third and Final Round.

Guatemala 4, Dominican Republic 2

Guatemala earned a 4-2 win against the Dominican Republic in Group E at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Óscar Santis placed the hosts in the lead in the 6’, connecting in the box with a cross from José Morales.

Dorny Romero equalized for the visitors in the 16’ with a composed finish in front of goal to capitalize on a rebound.

Heinz Mörschel placed the Dominican Republic in the lead in the 36’, a lead that lasted through the halftime whistle.

Nicolás Samayoa answered for Guatemala in the 53’ to level the match at two apiece.

Santis collected his brace in the 59’ to restore the lead for Los Chapines. Santis then converted for his hat-trick in the 62’ with a right-footed shot from outside of the box.

Guatemala secured its place in the Third and Final Round with the result. The Central Americans will conclude their campaign against Jamaica on Tuesday.

The Dominican Republic will conclude its campaign against Dominica on Tuesday.

Suriname 1, Puerto Rico 0

Suriname won 1-ni against Puerto Rico in Group F at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.

Jaden Montnor scored the lone goal of the encounter in the 79’ with a header inside the penalty area to connect with a cross by Denzel Jubitana.

With the victory, Suriname secures its place in the next round as one of the top two sides in its group. Suriname will conclude its campaign against El Salvador on Tuesday.

Puerto Rico will meet Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday to close its second round activity.
