Manchester United are poised to return with an improved proposal for Bryan Mbeumo today, according to UtdDistrict.

It comes after the Red Devils have seen two offers rebuffed by Brentford, the first being £55 million in total and the second being £62.5m including £7m in add-ons, which is the fee they agreed to pay for Matheus Cunha last month, albeit in instalments.

Now, INEOS are adamant about getting the deal wrapped up once and for all in hopes of adding Mbeumo to Ruben Amorim’s ranks in time for pre-season kicking off next Monday.

Brentford have been holding out for a bid in excess of £65m to consider sanctioning their talisman’s exit, and, while it’s been a frustrating scenario for United, you can’t really blame them for being so firm in their stance.

Mbeumo is on the back of a career-best campaign in 2024/2025, during which he hit the 20-goal mark for the first-ever time and contributed a further eight assists.

Even aside from his stellar contributions, the 25-year-old was available to start every single Premier League fixture; he ended the season having featured for a total of 3,417 minutes. In comparison, United’s most dependable figure, Bruno Fernandes, featured for 3,023 minutes in the top flight.

Replacing Mbeumo will be a tricky task for Brentford

Mbeumo stepped up to the mark from the off last season, performing so well each week that the absence of ex-frontman Ivan Toney posed no setback to Thomas Frank’s men.

In fact, the West London outfit finished six places higher than in Toney’s final term at the club, securing a 10th-placed finish upon the culmination of 24/25 and 17 points better off.

Alas, it goes without saying that a replacement will need to be sought to succeed the Cameroonian if he does indeed depart in the coming days, hence holding out for as high a fee as possible to ensure they can pursue the target of their choice.
