After Stuttgart’s transfer of Giannis Konstantelias fell through, the Bundesliga club have identified Celta Vigo’s Williot Swedberg (21) as an alternative. Sky Germany report that several candidates have been discussed internally over the last couple of days as they look to strengthen their attacking third.
Despite reaching an agreement with PAOK for Konstantelias, VfB’s move for the Greece international collapsed after the Super League club vetoed the deal at the eleventh hour due to fan backlash and their constant selling of their best talents. Instead, Konstantelias has since signed a new contract until 2029 that will see him earn a reported €3.9m salary.
The 21-year-old Swede joined Celta Vigo from Hammarby in 2021 but enjoyed his breakout campaign last season, where he was involved in 10 goals (5 goals and 5 assists) in 35 games across all competitions. Predominantly a left-winger, Swedberg can also operate centrally and possesses a playing style that would suit Sebastian Hoeneß’s style.
