Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign one of the most highly-rated striker talents currently operating in the English game, it has been revealed.

That concerns a deal for the highly-sought after Sheffield Wednesday striker Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri, who is fresh off the back of a staggering season across competitions for both his club side and his national team.

While starring for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-18s alone, the 15-year-old managed to record an outstanding 24 goals in 23 games, making him that particular age group’s top-scorer whilst adding 10 assists to his tally in the process.

The teenager also made himself the Under-18s Professional Development League’s top-scorer as Sheffield Wednesday secured second-place in the division with 24 goals to his name, as well as 19 goals in eight games in the Floodlit Cup alone.

Representing Sheffield Wednesday at Under-16 level, before his staggering promotion into a more senior age group, Cadamarteri notched one goal in his one outing as well as three goals for the Scotland Under-16 side.

Now it appears as though those numbers have caught the eye of a club viewed within Academy circles as being the ultimate goal for development purposes, as Manchester City have taken huge strides towards taking the young striker off the Owls’ hands.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign the Sheffield Wednesday under-18 striker as part of an ongoing plan to sign top young talents for development at the club.

The Etihad Stadium club have also beaten Premier League competition to an agreement for Cadamarteri, with the Sheffield Star reporting that Everton and Chelsea had also put offers on the table alongside City worth in the region of £1.5 million, plus future sell-on clauses.

As such, it can be expected that Manchester City have paid a seven-figure fee themselves for the forward, and perhaps in excess of the aforementioned figure depending on the demands of the Championship club.

For now, it remains to be seen what the plan is from the side of Manchester City’s Academy decision makers, although the demand for top young players to maintain the club’s status as being a premier force in English youth football is continuous.

The club’s Elite Development Squad or Under-23s ended the 2024/25 campaign as Premier League 2 Final Champions having topped the initial table, with Jahmai Simpson-Pusey claiming the competition’s Player of the Season award in the process.
