John Stones’ latest strike has seen him move level with former City stars Emmanuel Adebayor and Paul Walsh in the Club’s all-time scorers list.

The defender headed home his 19th goal in Sky Blue during our 5-0 UEFA Champions League win over Sparta Prague at the Etihad Stadium, his third in his past six appearances.

Stones has reached the number in 265 appearances, also seeing him equal the tallies of Ian Brightwell and Neil McNab and surpass both Elano and James Milner.

The England international still has some way to go before he reaches Sergio Aguero’s record of 260, but the timing of his strikes this season can’t be overstated.

In September, Stones bundled home his first goal of 2024/25 to rescue a point for Pep Guardiola’s men against title rivals Arsenal.

Erling Haaland had handed City an early lead at the Etihad Stadium, but the Gunners were on course to claim all three points until the defender’s 98th minute intervention.

And just three days before his latest strike against Sparta Prague the 30-year-old was at it again, this time heading home a 95th minute winner at Molineux in the Premier League.

It looked like City would have to settle for a point against Wolves after Josko Gvardiol’s stunning equaliser had cancelled out Jorgen Strand Larsen’s opener, but Stones once again stepped up at the death, rising highest to power home Phil Foden’s corner.

Incredibly, the defender’s two Premier League goals in 2024/25 have now earned City an additional three points this season, while five of his ten goals for the Club in the English top flight have been winning goals and one an equaliser.
