Leicester City are currently assessing a few different options to replace Steve Cooper. The once Nottingham Forest manager was given marching orders, after the Foxes were beaten by Chelsea at home at the weekend.

Steve Cooper didn't last long in the Leicester City hot seat. However, he has left behind some good foundations for the future manager to build on.

Leicester fans only hope that the club doesn't live to regret the decision. While we should be positive about the future, there is also every possibility that the replacement is unsuccessful.

Steve Cooper replacement candidate didn’t know Leicester sacked him

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, who is one of the contenders to replace Steve Cooper at Leicester City, admitted to only hearing the news of Cooper's sacking 24 hours after it happened.

He also reassured West Brom fans that while the external noise about his future might be there, he is still proud to be Baggies manager.

In his own words, Corberan said: “I can only say how focused I am at West Bromwich, how proud I feel to be the coach of this amazing club. I understand that football always has speculation around, but I didn’t even know that Leicester’s coach was sacked, for example, until last night (Monday). There is so much speculation that can appear out of my control."

Corberan is pleading with West Brom fans to continue to side with him. He has essentially stated that he is unable to control what is put out there in the media. As far as he's concerned, he's dedicated to and focused on West Brom.

As it stands, Ruud van Nistelrooy appears to be the most likely manager Leicester brings in to replace Steve Cooper. The Dutch manager has even been in talks with Leicester already.

Reading between the lines of Coberan's comments, the same cannot be said for him.
