This midweek, there was a full slate of fixtures in the Sky Bet Championship, and therefore action for both Tottenham Hotspur loanees. On Tuesday, Ashley Phillips and his Stoke City side were in action away to Luton Town, whilst Dane Scarlett and his Oxford side made the short trip to West London to face Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night.

To begin, Phillips was once again named in the starting XI, as he continues to make that starting birth his own, regardless of whether or not they play three or four at the back. It was the perfect start for Stoke, who took the lead just six minutes into the game, but their hosts would equalise after 24 minutes of the game.

Heading into the latter stages, it looked like Stoke were going to head back to the North Midlands with a point on the road, but Luton would score a goal in stoppage time to secure all three points, and make sure that Narcis Pelach’s side would leave empty handed.

This is the second game in a row that Stoke have scored very early on, and gone onto to lose the game 2-1, after the same happened in their defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last weekend. As for Phillips himself, he played the 90 minutes, and made 14 clearances throughout. With Spurs' current injury crisis, don't be surprised to see the teenager recalled in January

This defeat leaves Stoke in 18th place in the Championship, looking over their shoulder just four points above the relegation zone, having played a game more than Cardiff City, who currently occupy 22nd position.

As for Scarlett, he was named on the bench for Oxford’s trip to QPR. It would be another disappointing result for his side, who were condemned to a 2-0 defeat. The U’s have picked up just two points in their nine away games in the second tier so far this season.

Regarding the on loan Spurs striker himself, he played the final 20 minutes of the game, though was unable to make much of an impact, as his side were barely ever in the game, totalling just four shots with a combined expected goals of 0.09.

Next up for Stoke is a home game against the aforementioned Cardiff this Saturday. Meanwhile Oxford are at home to Sheffield Wednesday, as they continue to try and rely on their home form to stay up. Both games are 15:00 GMT kick offs.
