Everton’s £27 million offer for highly-rated Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling has been rejected.
The Toffees are considering a new bid, but the Saints have made it clear they will only consider proposals in the region of £40 million, per Sky Sports.
The Championship club will hold firm on their valuation of the 19-year-old, who has attracted widespread interest after a breakout season.
Southampton slapped a £100m price tag on Dibling earlier in the year, but £40m would be enough to open serious negotiations.
Dibling made 38 appearances for the Saints last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists. His performances put Everton on red alert.
Hailed as an ‘incredible talent’ by former Southampton manager Ivan Juric, his composure on the ball and creativity have led many to rate him as one of England’s most exciting gems.
Everton are the latest club to make a formal approach, but their opening offer fell well short of Southampton’s valuation.
With the Toffees still lacking spark in midfield, manager David Moyes is keen to add creative options before the new campaign.
However, it is unclear whether Everton will return with an improved bid. Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta and RB Leipzig are monitoring the situation.
With two years left on his current contract at St Mary’s, the south coast club are under no pressure to sell and will only sanction a deal if their demands are met.
