Southampton forward Adam Armstrong was strongly linked with a deadline-day move to Sunderland. But, the loyal ex-Newcastle man rejected a transfer to their rivals straight away.
Football has time and again proven to be just more than a sport for true fans. More than just being physical and challenging, one can find many valuable morals in this beautiful game.
One such moral was displayed by Southampton forward Adam Armstrong, which would prove inspiring forever.
Now, I know Armstrong has various critics among Southampton fans itself. Honestly, it makes sense as well given the stark contrast in his Top Flight and Championship numbers.
Still, what the 28-year-old recently did would please all the fans.
It is well known that being flopped again, Armstrong seemed set to depart this winter. Ultimately, he made a deadline day switch to West Brom, but do you know, he was close to an altogether different move in between?
As per Sunderland AFC News, the 28-year-old striker was a priority target for Championship side Sunderland. In fact, the club officials were ready to offer him a very lucrative offer, but the move suddenly halted.
The reason? Adam Armstrong's refusal of the transfer. The forward having been a former Newcastle Academy product wasn't willing to join ties with their arch-rivals Sunderland.
Interestingly, this has been a Southampton thing recently. Days ago, the Saints faced derby rivals Bournemouth, and now this report.
But while Southampton couldn't get the better of the Cherries, Armstrong has a key opportunity still.
With many games remaining, West Brom can still catch up with Sunderland in the Championship Table. To make things further exciting, Armstrong might have a potential faceoff with Sunderland which will be crucial to the promotion ahead.
Overall, the stage looks set for pure spectacle. Already having thrashed Sunderland's dreams once, can he give them a double hit?
Let's hope he does, as that might help Southampton, who look certain to play in the Championship next.
