Some positive news arrived regarding Ismael Bennacer yesterday as he returned to Milanello, with a game circled in red on the fixture list.
Sky report that Bennacer was at the Milan training complex yesterday three months after the injury he sustained with the Algerian national team. It was a severe lesion of the medial calf of the right calf, evidently not a straightforward issue.
Bennacer is continuing on his path towards a return to the field. He was operated on in mid-September in Finland by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, and he will now begin the phase of working individually to build fitness again.
The latest estimate is that he will return to full training with the rest of the squad in around 10/15 days. The target is to be available for Milan’s game against Roma, scheduled for Sunday 29 December.
It is a fundamental recovery for the Rossoneri, considering the lack of depth in midfield. In addition, it will allow the management to not rush in identifying a reinforcement in that department, amid links with Morten Frendrup.
In his pre-match press conference on the eve of the Atalanta game, Paulo Fonseca gave an update on Bennacer too and expressed a positive impression.
“Bennacer is more handsome, he changed his haircut (laughs). Physically he is fine, it was a pleasure to see him again. We are satisfied. He needs some time to work in the team, I think he is in the final part of the work before starting with the group,” he said.
