Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini has provided an update live from Milanello two days before the game against Udinese at San Siro.

Milan will resume their Serie A campaign on Saturday evening against one of the league’s surprise packages so far in Udinese, and there is pressure on the team to respond after the defeats against Bayer Leverkusen and Fiorentina before the break.

There are some selection dilemmas in view of the game such as whether to give Strahinja Pavlovic a start at centre-back after Fikayo Tomori’s disaster in Florence, and if Tammy Abraham should be benched following the penalty debacle that took place.

Baiocchini spoke to Sky outside the training ground about Paulo Fonseca’s approach to the match and the importance of Tijjani Reijnders, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“It’s pouring with rain here at Milanello, training isn’t over yet but all the internationals are back. And this is the most important news for Fonseca , because for the first day he’ll be able to work with the whole team,” he said.

“They’re all available for today’s training, tomorrow’s finishing touches and the match against Udinese on Saturday at 6pm. There could be some changes and we’ve also talked about them in recent days.

“The one who will not change is Reijnders, because he has always been a starter and will be the protagonist of our exclusive interview. There will be a commercial event by Milan and the Dutchman will stop with us for a chat and to understand how this Milan is doing and also to understand how he himself is doing. He played the two games with Holland: 90 and 45 minutes, a good thing for Fonseca.

“He makes Milan tick and everyone revolves around him and his game. Milan must relaunch itself from the next one, it must turn a bit. Perhaps this will be the return of the internationals perhaps the most important in this phase of the season. There will be seven games in 21 days and Milan must show that they can compete at high levels.”
