A journalist has made a big claim on X over the weekend as Xavi Simons formally asks to leave RB Leipzig to join Chelsea!

This is one of those transfer stories that could soon turn into a saga if Chelsea don’t get it done soon, but it looks like they are biding their time to get the right deal for Simons because they know that the player wants the move and is doing his part to make it happen.

Fabrizio Romano was reporting that Xavi Simons was not going to be playing in Leipzig’s friendly over the weekend due to the transfer with Chelsea now being very advanced and of course, he did not play in it.

And then after Simons and after some more outgoing deals happen, it looks like Chelsea are going to try and sign winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in the latter stages of the summer window.

Chelsea could genuinely end up signing Simons AND Garnacho to add to the attack that they already have in place and have already added Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro to it!

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Simons to Chelsea will move fast now!

He posted on X yesterday:

“Xavi Simons has formally communicated to RB Leipzig that he wanted to join Chelsea Football Club. Talks are expected to take a decisive turn on the coming days.

“More on Xavi Simons situation. RB Leipzig has already confirmed the Dutchman’s departure several days ago. The Germans have shifted their focus and are now looking more for a number 8-10 who can play centrally, which rules out certain targets. Simons to #CFC will move fast now.”
